Kapha can be correlated to the immunity of our body. It does other functions as well. It has dominance of water and earth elements, which gives it the properties of heaviness, coldness, softness, sweetness, etc.

Urah (Chest)
Shiro (Head)
Griva (Neck)
Parvanya (Joints)
Amashaya (Stomach)
Meda (Fat)

These are all the general sites of kapha dosha. Among them Urah (Chest) is the specific location of kapha dosha.

Functions of Kapha Dosha*

Sneha (Unctuousness)
Bandha (Binding)

Gaurvam (Heaviness)
Vrishta (Virility)
Bala (Strength)
Kshama (Forbearance)
Dhriti (Restraint)
Lobha (Absence of greed)

These are all the functions of normal kapha dosha. It deviates from these, if get vitiated or decrease or just get imbalanced from normal.

Types of Kapha Dosha**
It is divided into five types, the same as vata and pitta dosha, namely Avalambaka, Tarpaka, Shleshmaka, Bodhaka, and Kledaka.

Avalambaka Kapha
It is located in chest region, thoracic cavity and function as pericardial, pleural fluid for lubrication and easy movements in chest cavity.

So the literal meaning of Ayurveda comes out to be, The Science of Life. Lord Dhanvantari No one can tell the exact age of Ayurveda, but as the record goes, it is been  practiced in India for around 5000 years, i.e, practiced since 1500 B.C. - 500 B.C.. It is the oldest line of treatment, still surviving and helping in treatment, very effectively. Despite the fact that most of the documentations related to it are destroyed or lost, due to wars or famines or due to any other reasons, it is still very effective way of treatment, and is preferred over western medicine, not only by indians but in western countries also. Its horizons are widening day by day. As per the textbooks, Ayurveda is first remembered by Lord Brahma, and then passed on to his mind born son, Prajapati Daksha.
